Real Estate as Art and Utility

I love to travel to other countries.   The differences in architecture styles are fascinating and really tickle my realtor funny bone. What do you think of when you hear the word “gargoyle”?  Gargoyles make me think of an ethereal medieval world where symbols hold intense values and power over people.  I always thought they were merely ghoulish stone creations used to intimidate trespassing by any strangers passing by a building.

On a recent trip visiting the castles of the Loire Valley in France I discovered the true intent of gargoyles.  They are actually rain gutters used to funnel water away from the building.  The combination of beauty and utility is awe inspiring.
